- From the origins of the Shinshu Kobo House -

What does home mean to you?

A place to shelter from the wind and rain, a place for the family to sleep, or perhaps a place to unwind.

What we at Kobo Shinshu no Ie have always been asking ourselves is, "If we're going to do it, we want to create a home that makes us feel truly that 'my home is the best . '"

One answer is the Doma Salon .

■ Intermediate space that connects the outside and the inside

A doma salon is a space that gently connects the inside and outside of a home.

It connects to the garden, the fields, and the view of the Alps that stretches out beyond.

Shinshu has a culture of enjoying the outdoors. Unlike urban homes, the view outside your window is not limited to buildings, but you can enjoy the changing seasons and the smell of the breeze.

I want to bring that "richness of the outdoors" into my home.

This space was born from that idea.

■ The origin of the moving experience 20 years ago

Doma Salon began about 20 years ago.

We were invited to a villa that had been renovated from an old Japanese house, and enjoyed hospitality while sitting around a hearth in the spacious earthen floor leading from the entrance.

Is it possible to recreate that "heart-relaxing feeling" in a home?

With this in mind, the first Doma Salon was born.

At the time, many people were confused and wondered, "Is there any use for a space like this?"

But now, 20 years later,

Doma Salon has evolved along with its customers.

■ The four charms of the Doma Salon

① A modern reception room for welcoming guests

In the past, Japanese homes had a reception room, and there was also a culture where neighbors would drop by the veranda.

However, with rapid economic growth, the culture of inviting people into one's home gradually faded away.

Doma Salon is a place where we can once again rediscover that culture in a softer form.

Feel free to leave your shoes on and enjoy conversation while feeling the light and breeze with the windows to the garden and deck fully open.

It's like the salon culture of Karuizawa.

It's a scene from a rich life.

② A space for sharing hobbies

  • A couple enjoying wine in a dirt-floored bar

  • The owner grills fish caught in a mountain stream over the hearth

  • A family decorating their mountaineering equipment and bicycles

  • Time to chat with friends around the wood stove

It's different from a study. It's not a space for just you, but a space you can share with others.

The things displayed in the dirt floor begin to tell the story of that person's life.

3. Spend family time with your pet

A cool, tiled earthen floor.

In winter, the sunlight penetrates deep into the space, creating a warm and cozy place for dogs to sunbathe and children to play to their heart's content with paints and clay.

"If it was a floor, I would scold them, but if it's a dirt floor, I can forgive them."

This kind of freedom even makes family relationships easier.

4. A space for self-realization, colored in your own style

You don't have to decide from the beginning what you'll use it for.

A play area for children. A cafe space for startups. A place to invite gaming friends. A special room connected to a Japanese-style room with a round window.

The Doma Salon is not a space with a specific purpose, but rather a space that grows to suit your lifestyle.

Eventually, the space will be colored in colors that reflect the person's life itself.

■ The job of building homes

Our job is not just to build a place to sleep.

Enjoy life. Talk with friends. Laugh with family. Express yourself.

To create such "vessels for enjoying life to the fullest."

Doma Salon was founded 20 years ago and has continued to evolve alongside its customers, becoming the center of their lives.

■ Come to the showroom and imagine your own unique style.

There are several showrooms and model homes in Nagano Prefecture, each with its own unique earthen floor salon.

A dirt floor that juts out to the south. A dirt floor that is integrated with the living room. A secluded dirt floor where you can immerse yourself in your hobbies. A dirt floor just for the view of the Alps.

Come and imagine it for yourself.

What color would you paint this space?

What kind of life will you enjoy here?

We look forward to seeing you at the showroom.
